Root Canal in Peshawar
to Save an Infected Tooth
Root canal treatment, also called endodontic treatment or RCT, saves a tooth whose nerve has become infected or inflamed, clearing the infection and sealing the tooth so it can stay in place instead of being pulled out. Done under local anaesthesia, it is no more uncomfortable than a filling, and it ends the pain a bad tooth causes. At Cosmetic Club N Clinic in Peshawar our root canals are carried out by qualified dental surgeons, often in a single visit. If you are in pain, call or WhatsApp us and we will see you as soon as we can.
The short version
Root Canal Treatment at a Glance
What it does
Removes the infected nerve, cleans the canals, and seals the tooth to save it.
Pain
Done under local anaesthesia, so the treatment itself is painless and it relieves the toothache.
Visits
Often completed in a single visit, sometimes two for a badly infected tooth.
After
The tooth usually needs a crown to protect it, which we make in our own lab.
In pain now: call or WhatsApp and we will fit you in as soon as possible.
Warning signs
Signs You May Need a Root Canal
A root canal becomes necessary when the nerve inside a tooth is infected or dying, and the warning signs are worth knowing because treating it early is easier and cheaper.
- Severe or lingering toothache, especially one that keeps you awake
- Pain when biting or putting pressure on one tooth
- Sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers after the heat or cold is gone
- Swelling of the gum or face, or a small pimple on the gum, which signals an abscess
- A tooth that has darkened compared with those around it
- Deep decay or a cracked tooth that has reached the nerve
If you have any of these, come in quickly. An infected tooth does not heal on its own, and the sooner it is treated the more likely the tooth can be saved rather than lost. Pain that suddenly stops is not good news either, because it can mean the nerve has died while the infection continues. Caught early enough, decay that has not yet reached the nerve needs only a filling, which is why a sensitive or aching tooth is always worth checking before it becomes a root canal.
The treatment
What a Root Canal Does
Inside every tooth is a soft core of nerve and blood vessels called the pulp. When deep decay, a crack or an injury lets bacteria reach the pulp, it becomes infected, which causes the pain and, left untreated, an abscess that can spread. A root canal removes that infected pulp, disinfects and shapes the fine canals inside the root, and fills and seals them so bacteria cannot return. The tooth stays in place and works normally, which is why a root canal is the treatment that saves a tooth the alternative would simply remove.

Honest comparison
Root Canal or Extraction
When a tooth is badly infected there are two honest choices, and we talk you through both rather than assume.
| Criterion | Root canal | Extraction |
|---|---|---|
| Your natural tooth | Kept | Removed |
| What follows | A crown to protect the tooth | A gap to fill with an implant, bridge or denture |
| Chewing | Normal, your own tooth | Needs a replacement to restore |
| Cost over time | Lower, the tooth is saved | Higher, removal plus replacement |
| Best for | A tooth that can still be saved | A tooth too broken or infected to save |
Keeping your own tooth is almost always the better outcome, because nothing replaces a natural tooth as well as the tooth itself, and a root canal with a crown usually costs less over time than removing the tooth and replacing it with an implant or bridge. Where a tooth is too far gone to save, we will tell you so honestly and plan the extraction and replacement rather than put you through a root canal that will not hold.
The plain truth
Does a Root Canal Hurt
This is the fear that keeps people away, so here is the plain truth. A root canal has a painful reputation from decades ago, but the pain people remember was the infected tooth, not the treatment. Today the tooth is fully numbed with local anaesthesia, so the procedure itself feels much like having a filling, and what it does is take the toothache away. There may be mild tenderness for a day or two afterwards, which ordinary painkillers settle. If dental anxiety has kept you from coming in, tell us when you book and we will pace the appointment for you. Leaving an infected tooth untreated is far more painful than treating it.

Step by step
How Root Canal Treatment Works
The treatment is straightforward and often done in one visit. The tooth is numbed, an opening is made, and the infected pulp is removed. The canals inside the root are then cleaned, disinfected and shaped, and filled with a sealing material so bacteria cannot get back in. The tooth is closed with a filling, and because a root canal tooth becomes brittle, it is usually protected afterwards with a crown. A straightforward tooth is frequently completed in a single visit, while a badly infected one may need two so the infection can settle between them, and we tell you which at the X-ray.

Patient reviews
Patient Reviews
"I had been living on painkillers for a week, scared of getting a root canal. It was completely painless, the pain was gone that day, and they crowned the tooth a few days later. I wish I had come in sooner instead of suffering."
Yasir M., Peshawar Molar root canal and crown
"They were honest that one of my teeth was too broken to save and a root canal would have been a waste of my money, so they planned an extraction and implant instead, and did a root canal on the one that could be saved. I trusted them because of that."
Nadia H., Mardan Root canal and honest extraction advice
Planned together
The Crown After Your Root Canal
A tooth that has had its nerve removed loses its blood supply and becomes more brittle, so it is prone to cracking under the force of chewing. For back teeth especially, a zirconia crown placed over the treated tooth protects it and lets it work normally for many years. Because we mill crowns in our own laboratory, the crown that follows your root canal costs less here than at clinics that send the work out, and we plan the two together so you know the full cost from the start.
We plan the root canal and crown together, so you know the full cost from the start — and the crown is milled upstairs in our own laboratory.

Looking after it
After Your Root Canal
The tooth settles quickly. Take any painkillers you need for a day or two of mild tenderness, and avoid chewing hard on that side until the crown is fitted, because an unprotected root canal tooth can crack. Once the crown is on, the tooth works like any other and is cared for the same way, with normal brushing, flossing and your regular scaling and check ups. A root canal tooth, properly crowned and looked after, can last the rest of your life.

Frequently Asked Questions About Root Canal Treatment
No. The tooth is fully numbed with local anaesthesia, so the treatment feels much like a filling, and it relieves the toothache the infection was causing. There may be mild tenderness for a day or two afterwards that ordinary painkillers settle. The pain people associate with root canals comes from the infected tooth, not the treatment.
Often a single visit of about an hour, depending on the tooth and how many canals it has. A badly infected tooth may need two visits so the infection can settle in between. The crown that protects the tooth afterwards is fitted at a following appointment.
Usually yes, especially on back teeth. A root canal tooth loses its blood supply and becomes brittle, so a crown protects it from cracking and lets it work normally for years. We plan the root canal and crown together so you know the full cost upfront.
Saving your own tooth with a root canal is almost always better than removing it, because nothing replaces a natural tooth as well as itself, and a root canal and crown usually cost less over time than an extraction plus an implant or bridge to fill the gap. Where a tooth is too damaged to save, we will tell you honestly and plan a replacement instead.
A root canal tooth that is properly sealed, crowned and looked after can last the rest of your life. Keeping up normal brushing, flossing and regular check ups is what makes it last, the same care a natural tooth needs.
It gets worse, not better. The infection spreads into the bone and forms an abscess that can cause severe pain and swelling, and the tooth is eventually lost. Treating it with a root canal early is easier, cheaper and far more likely to save the tooth than waiting until it has to be pulled.
